Digital Pregnancy Care Plan in South Savo Gains Praise
The Wellbeing services county of South Savo’s new digital pregnancy care plan is already supporting 639 families through the OmaEloisa app. The service standardises maternity guidance, strengthens collaboration between clinics, and helps parents feel better prepared for birth.
Wellbeing services county of South Savo’s new digital care plan for pregnancy and childbirth has received excellent feedback. Introduced in June 2025, the service is already supporting 639 families, offering consistent, research-based guidance throughout pregnancy and birth via the OmaEloisa app, provided by BeeHealthy. Both families and healthcare professionals praise its clarity and the way it helps parents feel better prepared.
More consistent support and guidance during pregnancy
The aim of the digital care plan is to ensure that every family in South Savo receives the same high-quality support and guidance during pregnancy, regardless of their place of residence or the professional involved.
“Previously, guidance and practices varied, which could create uncertainty. By bringing everything together in the OmaEloisa app, we can now offer a consistent and easily accessible service from the very first contact,” says Susanna Broms, Chief Physician for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Wellbeing services county of South Savo.
The digital care plan brings appointments, guidance and family preferences together in one easy-to-use view. It is a standardised, family-centred service that frees professionals from administrative work and creates more time for meaningful, personal encounters.
The care plan also gives families an active role and practical tools to follow their pregnancy journey. Families can:
- Record their wishes related to labour and birth
- Track the progress of pregnancy and delivery
- Save notes and memories along the way
- Use tailored checklists for each visit, helping ensure that no tests, screenings, or key preparations are missed
Centralised information strengthens teamwork
At the heart of the service is a carefully curated 160-page content library, prepared by experts from the maternity clinics and delivery units of the South Savo wellbeing services county. The library includes weekly pregnancy instructions, information related to childbirth, and practical advice for the newborn’s first weeks at home.
Each maternity clinic and birth unit also has its own dedicated section within the service, sharing local practices and instructions. This has increased trust and reduced unnecessary contacts.
“The visibility of real-time information in the digital care plan has also strengthened collaboration between units. Whether a family visits a clinic, a doctor or specialist care, professionals all have access to the same information,” Broms explains.
Better preparation, more satisfied families
Since launch, 639 digital care plan have already been started out of the region’s approximately 700 annual births. Feedback from families has been extremely positive. The service is described as clear, accessible and reassuring. Many highlight how valuable it is that “everything is in one place”.
According to Broms, the benefits go beyond the family experience:
“Our professionals say that families now arrive at appointments and for birth better prepared. This enables more efficient and more personal encounters, and reduces unnecessary time spent in appointments.”
Encouraged by the successful rollout, the Wellbeing services county is already developing the next phase: a digital care plan for families with children, creating continuous support from pregnancy through to early childhood.
