Germany´s Digital Health Progress: BMVZ Congress Insights
Germany’s healthcare digitisation is at a pivotal point. At the BMVZ Congress, we shared lessons from Finland’s success recipe to accelerate digital transformation in outpatient care.
Germany’s healthcare system is undergoing a significant phase of digital change. The Federal Ministry of Health has highlighted the potential benefits of digitization — improved communication, less administrative burden, and better access to patient information. Still, progress varies across the country, and many providers are navigating what digital transformation means in day-to-day care.
The BMVZ Praktikerkongress earlier this month in Berlin brought together people working on these questions from different angles. As one of Germany’s key events for outpatient care, it offered a space for MVZs, medical practices, payers, and care networks to share experiences and look at practical ways to improve services.
We were glad to contribute.
Together with my colleague Sampo Oksanen, I had the chance to speak about Finland’s “success recipe in healthcare digitalisation” and what lessons Germany might take from it to help accelerate the digital progress. It was encouraging to see many attendees engage with the topic, ask questions, and consider how similar ideas could be adapted within the German context.
At our booth, visitors could take a closer look at the BeeHealthy platform. We focused on showing how digital services — such as online access to care and simpler communication channels — can fit into existing outpatient workflows. We appreciated the many thoughtful conversations and the range of perspectives people brought to the table. I’m excited to continue the discussions in the weeks ahead.
For us, participating in the BMVZ Congress was an opportunity to listen and learn as much as to share. While BeeHealthy offers a digital platform to support outpatient care, our goal is always to understand local needs and work collaboratively with providers. Over the coming months, we look forward to continuing the exchange, sharing reference cases, and exploring where cooperation makes sense.
Thank you to everyone who attended our session, stopped by the booth, or reached out during the event — and to our team for their support. We left Berlin energized about the possibilities ahead and look forward to helping shape the future of outpatient care in Germany.
